Movie Poster Analysis
Blade Runner:
This movie poster conveys the feel of a typical action film. I can tell this by the colour scheme as it uses dark blues, bright yellows and reds which connotes ideas of police cars or bright city lights. I assume the film has a fast pace and involves car chases because the title font is red and looks like a typical action film font. The target audience might be around 16-40 years old as action films tend to interest people who are willing to concentrate on following a plot.
Scary Movie 2:
From the poster, I can tell that this is a comedy movie- this is due to the characters' comical expressions and the rating at the top. The characters costumes are a clear indication to comedy as they almost mock typical horror films, which I think is what the story line is based on. The target audience is probably around 16-25 as the humour might be inappropriate in an immature manner.
Uzak:
This movie seems to be an emotional or historical film, which I can tell by the dark lighting and the actual scene he is in- alone by what looks like a river in a cold place. It is probably targeted at an audience of 30-50 years old.
I'm not scared:
This seems to be an emotional thriller that has high impact visuals- this could be done by the fact that it involves a child so people might feel stronger empathy towards him rather than a grown man. The target audience might be around 17-35 as it doesn't seem to look like the kind of movie a person older would be interested in. The story line must include bravery and a motif of difficulty or the act of overcoming a situation.
Sin City:
This is clearly another action film which I can tell from the dark colours and angles the picture was taken in. The props show guns and a clear antagonist in the corner, very small, as opposed to the main actors who I can assume are the heroes in the film as they are shown from a low angle which makes them appear powerful. The target audience must start around 16 to around 40 years old as action films are widely appreciated unlike romantic comedies which are more aimed towards particular audiences.
Pirates Of the Caribbean:
This is obviously an adventure/fantasy film as it involves pirates. I can tell this because of the character costumes and props/graphics on the poster(aside from the name of the movie) I think the movies involves quests or defeating someone. I think the target audience would be around 16-50 as young people would not be able to follow the plot.
Bride and Prejudice:
I can tell that this movie includes a lot of singing and dancing which I can tell by the actors stance and costume(also the people in the background seem to be celebrating). It is probably aimed towards 20-40 year old's as the plot must take some cultural knowledge to understand the jokes and also there must be references to Pride and Prejudice which young people probably wouldn't get.
Million Dollar Baby:
Judging by the cover it looks like a sport/boxing related film that has a deep and heavy plot that addresses difficult issues. The female looks troubled or ambitious in the over-the-shoulder shot. The dark lighting also suggests some duality in her persona as it throws shadows, indicating secrecy. The target audience was probably around 18-30 years old.
