CLAMPS - mise-en-scene

Costume- the characters' costumes are fitting to their roles as wizards as they are dressed in long black robes along with hats which typically connote ideas of witches/wizards.

Lighting- the dark lighting suggests that it night time or unexpected missions occur often especially as both wizards seem to be prepared and in control. It also creates a sense of mystery as the dark lighting makes it difficult to see things fully.

Actors- The actors look concerned and they walk alongside each other which suggests that they're dealing with an important case- this must mean they are important.

Make-up - Dumbledore has a fake beard which connotes a kind of wisdom, and adds age to his character while Hagrid has sweat and dirt on his face which suggests he in charge of hard work.

Props- Dumbledore holds a 'Deluminator' which is a prop that adds to the effect of mystery as it removes light. This suggests that the scene has to be secretive and under control.

Setting- They all stand in a regular street in Surrey which adds to the reality of the situation since the magic co-exists with regular lives (muggles) and therefore suggests that the magic can intertwine with real life.

Costume- The characters costume is rough and baggy which suggests he is tired or stressed.

Lighting- His face is mainly lit by the screen which implies that that is the most important thing to him at that point, or that it is a key part of the plot and therefore deceives the characters utmost attention.

Actors- The actor looks stressed or exhausted to begin, showing his lacklustre attempt to continue his search. However he has tears in his eyes while he realises he is getting closer which creates a sense of empathy for the audience.

Make-up- He seems to look sleepless, which may have been done by dark make up beneath his eyes or a dull foundation on his skin.

Props- He tears up his maps and pins in frustration which is a key prop as it shows the hours and dedication he put into finding his home. This links into the reasons as to why he looks tired.

Setting- He is alone in a dark apartment which suggests that this has taken over his life as he has no will to clean; he would rather spend all his time researching.

Costume- Forrest is dressed in clothes that make him appear innocent and childlike, which represent the nature of the film.

Lighting- The lighting looks natural which might be to suggest this occurrence was fairly regular that interrupted his daily life.

Actors- The actors are innocent and move in a childlike manner; Forrest fumbles until he falls. This could have been done to show how the children were vulnerable.

Make-up - The characters have dirt and sweat on them to the effect of the chasing and how typically dirty children that age get when they are playing with friends- this connotes some juxtaposition as they aren't playing.

Props- The leg brace and the bike both add to the plot as they represent the struggle and the hardship that was to come of Forrest's life.

Setting- They are in a rural, countryside area which in that time period may have been a predominantly white area. Also, they are on a long path which can be symbolising a long journey.
