Editing: blog task

Image
This scene of Finnick's death has a fast-paced edit that reflects and adds the adrenaline of the action happening.  The jump cuts of the Mutts keep the viewers’ attention on edge as as the scenes progress the viewer doesn’t know what to look out for-this is also reflected in the characters actions and facial expressions. The scene consists of continuity editing so we see the series of events follow each other: for example, Katniss getting up after hearing a noise to the cautious walk down the sewer. The pace of the editing also follows the pace of the characters reactions, e.g. Peeta’s slow realisation that Katniss had left for somewhere uses a slow-paced edit. This creates anticipation for the audience as there is a gradual tension built. The pace of the fight scene, however, is quick in order to portray the characters quick thinking and reacting; there are a lot of jump cuts to perhaps show how the Mutts could catch the characters off guard, portraying the amount of danger the

The opening 45 seconds of 'Marcella', the 2016 ITV drama, begins by fading in from black, followed by a medium shot in which the main character emerges into. This immediately confuses the audience as we don't see her face  but we can tel by the lighting and music that the character is distressed. We get a sight of her bleeding temple which mirrors the effect of the lighting to create an ominous and mysterious image. The next camera shot is a compromised long shot, as she is crouched (from what we can see from behind the bloody glass) which makes the audience feel unsure and uncertain of whats to come, much like the character we see. Also, because it's handheld we are given a sense of horror, as if it is someone watching her. We are then given a close up tilt downwards of various parts of her body that are strained with blood and bruised-this all alludes t a conclusion that she has either hurt someone or been hurt. The medium shot from behind the glass is repeated as

Blade Runner 2049 reviews

Review 1: I agree with this reviewers thoughts as the effects of sound and scenery allude to a type of dream-like image that is half realistic and half ridiculous. Though I didn't see the point in most of the violence and action, it definitely added to the effect of it's genre.  Review 2: Because I've not seen the first Blade Runner movie, It's hard to tell whether I agree with this reviewers thoughts. However, I do agree that the narrative was 'remarkable' as I managed to follow without really knowing where it all began.

We used a variety of shots such as high angle, low angle, and close ups to show the different levels of emotion and scenery an audience can be exposed to. We also combined a few to show the effect they could have and how they would be used in media productions. For example, we used over the shoulder shots and handhelds in on take to present how they would be used and how it would look.
