Movie Poster Analysis

Image
Movie Poster Analysis Blade Runner: This movie poster conveys the feel of a typical action film. I can tell this by the colour scheme as it uses dark blues, bright yellows and reds which connotes ideas of police cars or bright city lights. I assume the film has a fast pace and involves car chases because the title font is red and looks like a typical action film font. The target audience might be around 16-40 years old as action films tend to interest people who are willing to concentrate on following a plot. Scary Movie 2: From the poster, I can tell that this is a comedy movie- this is due to the characters' comical expressions and the rating at the top. The characters costumes are a clear indication to comedy as they almost mock typical horror films, which I think is what the story line is based on. The target audience is probably around 16-25 as the humour might be inappropriate in an immature manner. Uzak: This movie seems to be an emotional or historica

Star Persona Task (Learner Responses)

Star-persona LR task Krissah: 'Your make-up looked very professional and helped to convey to zombie bride look you were going for. Perhaps you could have used different lighting and different soundtrack to match the star persona you were attempting to achieve.'  In future, I would use bigger lights to avoid shadows being thrown across the scene, and I would make sure that the models face could be seen at all times. Also, the camera died hallway through the bride half of the face so a few parts weren't filmed. This could be avoided in future by checking the battery on the camera before filming so that the make up is consistently progressing in the video. I effectively used Make-up in my video however i could have also used costume and better lighting. I believe that the actress I used suited the role. I didn't have any props but I think they would have the same effect as costume.  I have learned that all these factors are all important contributors to the effect th

Media awards: film reviews

Media Awards: Click: The cinematography of this video was, in opinion, very well done due to its intricacy and the producers' attention to detail- it was clear that hours of thought had gone into its concept. Each scene had very specific camera movement and positioning which I thought made it extremely successful as it heightened the dramatic effect on the audience. For example, the slow-motion scene of the actor falling, cutting to a close up of his hand that 'clicks' added to the effect as it was clear that this was going to be an important part of the plot. The mise-en-scene was manipulated in a very clever way as the car park they were in looked like a typical action movie scene, and the props made the whole production even more professional-looking. Out of Mind: This video included really convincing acting which is very important in these types of emotional narratives. The editing and camera work was almost textbook which made it look completely professional, for e

Lighting: Still Image Analysis

Image
Lighting: still image analysis There is a lot of low-key lighting that has thrown extremely dramatic shadows across the actresses body, so much so that her body is no longer visible. This is done with top-lighting which has accentuated the depth of her eyes and has heightened her cheekbones. This, in effect, makes her look more feminine because the lighting is flattering.   This scene uses high-key lighting which has made the actors facial features visible although there is shadow cast over his eyes- this makes his look more menacing or powerful. This uses top-lighting as the shadows are being thrown from above, again accentuating the lines and depths in his face. This still seems to have used bottom lighting along with a low angle to make the actor appear more fearsome and superior to other characters. It seems as though there has been a use of key low-key lighting that has cast lots of shadows of his jacket across his body, while half his face is also in shadows. This

Sound task feedback LR

Sounds Task: LR "Superb audience reaction-immediately gets a response which is a great sign. I'm not sure how contrapuntal the images/videos at the start are... perhaps because it is so well edited in time with the music? Because of this, there wasn't a dramatic shift between the two elements which I always look for with this task. Clear thought behind this in terms of audience effect + gratifications... this was made to entertain!" Class WWW: "Music goes entirely contrapuntal with the ballerina clip, while some of the clips are parallel to the 'Murder she wrote.'"song. "You changed the pace of the editing to match the music and used a mix of both images and videos. You made it very clear when it was contrapuntal/parallel sounds." "The comedic effect of the first half worked perfectly. The play of the words of the music "Murder She Wrote" and showing the image of the show and the other images made it solid. The seco

Sound Analysis task

Diegetic/ Non-diegetic  2) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: Diegetic and non-diegetic sound The Diegetic sound in this film clip is interestingly, the music. 'Baby', the main character, is partially deaf so he wears the headphones to drown out ringing in his ears throughout the movie. As a result, he is the only person who can hear the music, meaning the music is actually non-diegetic to the rest of the characters. Other diegetic sounds are the gunshots, sirens, and impacts of things being hit and jumped on/off of. Parallel and contrapuntal sound There is mostly parallel sound as the music is fast paced and matches the chase scene, alongside the other diegetic sounds like sirens. Sound bridges There are lots of sound bridges when the scenes move on to show the continuity of the situation- this includes the music and the si
